Every figure above is copied from PG Soft's official Game Information PDF for Mahjong Ways, checked on 7 September 2026. That document also lists a separate "Max Exposure" figure of 2,893x, simulated across one billion spins — a statistical ceiling from testing, not the same number as the 25,000x advertised maximum win a single spin can theoretically pay. Pages that quote only one of the two numbers are giving half the picture.
How Mahjong Ways actually plays
The reels do not spin and stop the usual way. A win clears the matching tiles, new symbols cascade down to fill the gaps, and the sequence keeps paying until a spin produces no further win. With 1,024 ways, matching symbols pay wherever they land on consecutive reels from the left — there are no fixed paylines to track.
A multiplier sits above the reels and starts at x1 on the first cascade of a spin. Land a win and the next cascade's multiplier rises to x2, then x3 on the cascade after that, then x5 for every cascade beyond that. A long chain of small cascades can therefore turn into one large payout even without hitting the bonus round, which is the mechanic that made the Mahjong Ways series popular in the first place.
The features PG Soft lists
- Gold Plated Symbols — on reels 2, 3 and 4, certain symbols (never Wild or Scatter) can appear gold-plated. If a gold-plated symbol is part of a winning combination, it turns into a Wild symbol on the next cascade, which is how the board fills up with substitutes mid-chain.
- Free Spins Feature — landing 3 Scatter symbols anywhere on the reels awards 12 free spins; each additional Scatter beyond three adds 2 more spins.
- Rising free-spin multiplier — during the Free Spins Feature, the cascade multiplier climbs through x2, x4, x6 and x10, on top of the same gold-symbol mechanic from the base game.
- Retriggerable free spins — a strong run of Scatters during the feature itself extends the round rather than capping it at the initial award.
Where Filipino players can play it for real pesos
Of the PAGCOR-licensed platforms we cover, Solaire Online and OKBet both confirm PG Soft among their game suppliers — Solaire Online names JILI and PG Soft as its two core studios, and OKBet lists PG Soft games alongside JILI, FaChai, CQ9 and Microgaming content. BingoPlus, ArenaPlus and GGPoker.ph do not carry PG Soft in the catalogues we have on file. Provider line-ups change without announcement, so check the lobby's own provider filter before assuming a title is there.
GCash cash-in lands in seconds on the platforms that support it, and many PH-facing casinos start accepting deposits at around ₱100, enough for a short low-stake session. Our GCash deposit guide covers the wallet ceilings and the InstaPay fee change that took effect on 4 July 2026.
What Mahjong Ways does not do
Medium volatility with a 25,000x ceiling means the big multiplier chains are the exception, not the norm — most cascades die out after one or two drops, and the Free Spins Feature does not trigger on every session. If you are chasing frequent small wins rather than occasional large ones, a lower-volatility title suits that better; our PG Soft guide sorts the studio's catalogue by feel rather than just by name.
The 96.92% RTP is a long-run average measured across millions of simulated spins, not a refund rate for any single session; our RTP explainer covers why that distinction matters more than the headline number. There is no guaranteed payout schedule, and no amount of spins "owed" to you after a cold streak — each spin is independent of the last.
Whatever stake a platform sets for Mahjong Ways, turnover adds up quickly at any bet size. Treat a session as a fixed amount you are comfortable spending on entertainment, not as a path back to even after a loss. Online gambling in the Philippines is 21+ only, and if it stops being fun, PAGCOR's hotline is (02) 8248-9568.
Playing the Mahjong Ways demo first
The demo on this page is PG Soft's own free-play build: play money, no account, no deposit, and nothing to install. Use it to get a feel for the cascade rhythm and how often the multiplier climbs past x3 at your usual bet size before ever risking real pesos.
Demo results do not predict what a real-money session will do. The same RNG runs both modes, and no reasonable number of demo spins is a large enough sample to say anything statistical about your odds. What the demo is good for is deciding whether you actually enjoy a cascading, ways-based slot before spending a single peso on it.
Mahjong Ways FAQ
What is the RTP of Mahjong Ways?
96.92%, according to PG Soft's official Game Information document for the title, checked on 7 September 2026. That is a theoretical long-run return calculated over millions of spins, not what any individual session pays back.
What is the maximum win on Mahjong Ways?
PG Soft's own documentation lists a 25,000x advertised maximum win, with a separate Max Exposure figure of 2,893x from simulated testing across one billion spins. Both are theoretical ceilings — most sessions land nowhere close to either.
Is Mahjong Ways the same game as Mahjong Ways 2?
No, though they share the same cascading, gold-symbol mechanic. Mahjong Ways 2 widens the grid to 2,000 ways and raises the advertised maximum win to 100,000x at a slightly higher 96.95% RTP — it is a sequel, not a reskin of the original.
Can I play the Mahjong Ways demo for free?
Yes. The demo on this page runs on play money with no registration, no deposit and no APK to install. It is PG Soft's own demo build, so gameplay matches the real-money version apart from the currency.
Which licensed platforms in the Philippines have PG Soft games?
Among the PAGCOR-licensed platforms in our directory, Solaire Online and OKBet both list PG Soft among their suppliers. Availability varies by platform and changes without notice, so check the provider filter in the lobby before depositing anywhere.
